8 drivers turned up tonight and was an ideal number for a team race. 4 1/24th scale cars were cobbled together with various generations of falcon motors in Turboflex chassis. We decided on using a 1 minute qualification to determine teams, with pairings made up of 1st & 8th, 2nd & 7th etc. We then ran a normal segmented race with 2 sets of drivers so that team members weren’t racing each other. The cars stayed on the same lanes all night, and with 5 minute segments it should be a decent test of driving skill, shouldn’t it !! ??

Racing was quite close most of the time with some very good competitive segments. The cars held up pretty well, only the car on yellow lane expired midway through the 3rd segment and was replaced with a JK 24 with a falcon 7 motor and it proved a bit of a handful. The easiest car to drive was the car on red lane, with a falcon 3 motor in a turboflex chassis which hadn’t been out of the box for 4 years !!

Overall it was a win for Kev & Corky, but only just. Bob & Mick were only 2 laps back after 40 minutes of racing. Trev & Rog finished up in 3rd place some 22 laps behind 2nd, and Chris & Geoff were just 7 laps further back in 4th.

A very enjoyable night’s racing finished off in the traditional way.
