The Summer Championship concluded tonight with the final Group 12 round. As it proved, Chris was uncatchable in the Championship so it was all about pride tonight. In qualy Bob took TQ with a 3 lane total of 115.52, 15 parts ahead of Kev on 115.37 and these 2 were 3 laps ahead of Chris in 3rd with Trev another 3 laps back in 4th to make up the A final. With 10 drivers we had a C final and this was between a very tired Christopher and Geoff. Christopher’s G12 car proved too quick for Geoff’s Falcon and he had a comfortable win to take 9th place overall with a 31.84 from Geoff on 29.14 taking 10th place. The B final had Corky, Mike, Mick and Roger in it and this proved to be the race of the night. Not much in it for the first half with Corky and Mike edging ahead and Rog and Mick battling for 3rd and 4th. Mick’s car wasn’t handling too well due to a mangled body shell and Roger was taking full advantage by stretching away a bit. The last 30 seconds or so was all about Corky chasing down Mike for the win. Corky had had a couple of ‘offs’ but was catching Mike fast and on the last lap and as the power went off they were virtually together in the kick back. Mike was in front but Corky’s car kept on rolling but just finished short of Mike’s. They both finished on 35.90 laps, but Mike was judged as winner by about 2 inches - great stuff. Roger had a good and steady drive to stay ahead of Mick for 3rd with 33.19 and Mick struggled to finish on 29 laps. On to the A final and this was a bit messy early doors with Bob taking a couple of knocks which put paid to his race. Chris and Kev emerged in front with Trev in 3rd most of the way. From half way on it was a clean race with Chris staying ahead to take the win with 38.61 from Kev in 2nd on 37.86, Trev 3rd on 36.91 and Bob trundling round in 4th with 27.00.

So, Chris finished off this season as Champion with 425 points, Bob took 2nd with 414 points and Kev 3rd on 404 points.

A new Championship starts in two weeks time and next week is a ‘free’ week. It was decided last night that we will run 1/24th ‘Club Cars’ either as a team race or individual depending on numbers. There will be 4 cars that every one will drive, and they will stay on the same lane all night. Judging on the last time we did this it should be a lot of fun !!!!
