With the Nationals only 2 days away, only 8 racers turned up for 1/24 sports, Kev and Woody still preparing cars. As you would expect all talk was of Trevor’s newly completed rail car! Sadly Trevor had spent so much time on the rail car he had forgotten he needed tyres and with Mick coming late he couldn’t blag a car so had to hastily turn some “remoulds” that he glued together. Qualifying was in reverse order of arriving so when Chris walked in late he was told he was on. It made no difference as Chris was in top form and posted a big 14 laps. Everyone else was very close with a number of 13s and Trev even managed a 12 on juddering tyres. Geoff turned up but with no 1/24 car and no spare available he volunteered to marshal, quality of marshalling depending on what subs he collected.

The B final was Corky, Ray, Trevor and Roger. Corky steadily drove away from the rest, Trevor had his tyres sorted and was on a par with Corky but then his gear came loose. Ray and Roger both had some extremely good segments with Ray’s 40.87 probably the fastest segment of the race.

The A final was Chris, Bob, Mike and Mick. Chris was in a class of his own and some bad marshalling for Bob and Mick in the first segment allowed him a comfortable margin to carry through. In the second segment Mike had a bad crash with Mick which put him out of the race. Chris’s tyres were going but he still managed to post a 41 on white in the final segment after a close tussle with Bob who also got a 41 while Mick did an impressive 40 on blue.  So a win for Chris from Bob with Corky just edging Mick for third.
