Signing off for now.

Full ES24 Results now on ES24 page

In a pulsating final segment, Vojtik caught and passed Horky and stayed there for a while. Horky wasn’t to be beaten and held on forcing Vojtik into a couple of “offs” and he re-passed with just a few seconds to go to retain his title. Incredibly Horky didn’t really look on the pace at all in the semis, but class tells in the end and he’s got plenty. A great race.
13:50
Gawronski pits for tyres in 7th, Horky takes over in front with Vojtik up into 2nd, Ciccarello 3rd, into final segment.....
13:45
Gawronski fights back joining Horky on lead lap, Ciccarello stops for tyres and slips back to 4th, getting very tight..
13:40
Ciccarello still leads, Gawronski fighting back joins Horky and Vojtik in 2nd, tyres starting to come in to play so it’s not all over yet..
13:35
Gawronski hits trouble with gears after a crash in the 4th. Ciccarellotakes over in front with Horky up to 2nd
13:25
Gawronski still in front after 3 by 2 laps, Ciccarello gradually catching, Horky into 3rd.
13:20
Gawronski pulling away after 2, with a 3 lap lead over Vojtik and Ciccarello in 2nd.
13:15
Final just under way - 8 x 5 mins - Gawronski early leader with Gilbert in trouble early
12:15
Semis are over and so is British interest. The first 7 in the “A” semi + Nikolay Dolzhanskiy make up the final. Final will probably start in about an hour after a pit break and tech....
11:30
B semi now over and some bad news. Chris Thomas hit trouble in the first segment with body in the gears and then retired in segment 3 when a new gear stripped after half a lap - bad luck Chris. The race was won by Russia’s Nikolay Dolzhanskiy who takes over at the top, and Roy Hood, Olli Kantamaa and Mike Stahl occupy the next 3 places. A semi just starting, Richard needs a miracle to make it through to the final - unlikely !!
10:30
Good morning from Chicago on ES24 finals day. The first semi is over and featured Richard Mack. The race was won by Alex Leite with 393.24 from Herman James 383.66 and Richard third with 383.34. The race is not without controversy as Alex Leite was found to be too low after changing tyres in the warm up. Apparently there should have been a 10 lap penalty.....no protests as yet but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
02:00
Finally done, results on ES24 page, goodnight for now....
01:15
I hope those of you who stayed up to watch Chris thought it was worth it. A brilliant drive to win his heat and guarantee himself a place in the semis. Along with Richard Mack that makes 2 Brits in the semis... whew it’s getting late, just the A to go.
00:40
C Group just finished and a new top 2 in Miroslav Vadlejch and Guido Santarelli. Richard Mack currently in 8th spot so guaranteed a semi spot. Chris Thomas in the B heat and after 1 segment leads by 2 laps.....
Friday 8/10
23:55
After the D heat Olli Kantamaa takes over at the top of the board, he takes over from Alex Leite. Richard Mack has a storming last couple segments to take 2nd in the race and 3rd overall. Richard’s looking good for another semi final place with 24 racers to go. Running quite a bit behind schedule for some reason !!
23:15
Running about one race behind schedule. The D is just starting with Richard Mack in the line up. In the E heat Woody came in 4th and is lying 14th overall despite a 2 lap penalty for illegal track call. Alex Leite is current leader with 296.35 laps.
21:45
Brian finishes 2nd in race and is currently 5th overall with 6 heats to go. Ben hit just about everything to finish 8th.
21:00
Gradually getting through the heats, Heat G now in progress with Brian Saunders and Ben Woodward taking part.
19:10
Heats well under way now, its’s going to be a long night. Latest heats in the ES24 page.

Second spot went to Horky with 4.030 and 3rd to Vojtick on 4.046. Brian Saunders’
time was a dissapointing 4.401, leaving Chris Thomas a top Brit.
Paul Gawronski was
getting quicker until he lost his pinion but still posted a 4.095. That pinion was
found on the floor. Michael Landrud also lost his pinion and that was found by next
man up, Jiri Karlik, who found it in the slot after his car was launched on to the
floor on his first lap !!! I’ll post the data as soon as I can get hold of it.
16:00

Thursday 7/10
16:05
In a pulsating last segment Greg Gilbert was struggling for tyres and Paul Ciccarello was catching fast, but he couldn’t quick do it so Greg Gilbert is this year’s Eurosport Champion. Nick de Watcher was looking good for second but a late ‘off’ put paid and he finished in 3rd. Richard couldn’t recover from a botched pit stop and came in 7th. Still, a great effort from “Jimmy”.
15:15

Richard had a bad run on black and then lost a wheel after a tyre change in segment 6 !!
15:00
