1st round of the New Year and 12 drivers contested tonight’s 1/32nd Sports / GT. We have now set the track voltage back to 13.8 volts for the 1/32nd classes, and this made a significant improvement in lap times. Chris set the pace in qualy taking pole with 4.249, Woody and Christopher both posted times in the 4.3’s and Brian took 4th spot with a 4.414.
Good to see Bob back after his recent heart scare and he lined up with Kev, Roger and Geoff in the C final. Nothing too dramatic but Bob took the win with a modest 139.02 with Roger taking 2nd, Geoff 3rd and Kev retiring in the last segment with no gears left.
The B final was a different kettle of fish with Corky and Mick both doing 38s, in the first, Corky on Blue ! From then on is was all about Corky, he went on to follow up with 2 39s and another 38 to finish with a very challenging total of 154.78. Trev pulled up to 2nd spot with 2x37s, a 38 and a 39 to finish 3 1/2 laps back and Mick faded to end up 3rd, a lap and a half ahead of Kevin in 4th.
Chris, Christopher, Woody and Brian then set out to chase Corky’s total in the A final. Woody set the early pace from Chris with Brian and Christopher starting slowly. After 2 segments, Brian had almost pulled up to Woody and after 3, Brian had nudged ahead with Woody having a poor 37 on Yellow and Brian doing a 40 on Red. So, going into the last they both needed BIG 40’s to catch and pass Corky. Woody then put in a storming 39.49 on Blue to Brian’s 38.27 on Yellow to give Woody the win in the race but it was 1.29 short of Corky, and Brian 22 parts behind Woody.
So Corky takes the win from the B final with Woody 2nd and Brian 3rd. Chris put in a 40 on White in the last segment to grab 4th place overall.
